About This DVD

What is man's responsibility to his fellow human beings? That's a question explored in "Diary of June (aka: Bystanders)", an investigation thriller from "Can't Live Without Robbery" director Im Kyung Soo with a deeper message. This film tells the story of Detectives Chu Ja Young (Shin Eun Kyung, from My Wife is a Gangster 1 and 2) and Kim Dong Wook (Eric Moon Jeong Hyuk, from A Bittersweet Life), who must solve a puzzling murder case involving a string of deaths at a local high school.

Their investigation eventually leads them directly to a middle school student who has long suffered abuse at the hands of school bullies. In fact, each murder occurs just as it is described in the student's diary. On that evidence alone, one might think the detectives have an open and shut case. However, there's one problem. The student is already dead!

Who is the culprit behind all the killings? And will the detectives be able to bring the murderer to justice? Uncover the secret in Bystanders, a film that suggests that sometimes indifference to human suffering can be worse than hatred itself!

Kim Yun-jin, a rising star in Hollywood due to her growing part in the ABC drama “Lost,” stars in this film alongside Shin Eun-kyung and Eric, playing the part of a mother who must come to terms with the suicide of her son because of bullying at school. Kim's return to the Korean film scene comes three years after her performance in "Deep Loves" won her Best Actress in the Cheongryong (Blue Dragon) Movie Awards.
