Chilsoo, who comes from Dongducheo, is talented with a painting. He is waiting for the invitation of his sister in America, but he quits his job as a painter in a theater. He works as an assistant for Mansoo who suffers from his father, who is serving his sentence. The college student Jina leaves Chilsoo behind and his sister in America do not make contact with him any more. One night Chilsoo and Mansoo, who are in despair, finish working of signboard and then do mischief on an advertising tower. In this moment, the police arrive there, because they consider that they are going to commit suicide. Finally, Mansoo falls down and Chilsoo is arrested by the police.
Premiering in 1988, internationally renowned Korean director Park Kwang-su's "Chilsoo and Mansoo" casts popular actors Ahn Sung-ki ("Musa - The Warrior") and Park Joong-hoon ("Hwang San Bul") in the lead roles. This highly acclaimed film vividly pictures the lives and attitudes of Korean young generation living in the pre-democratization era of South Korea.
Following award-winning work "Single spark", Park Kwang-su hit international film festivals once again with "Chilsoo and Mansoo." The film was awarded Best Recording, Best New-face Director and Best Scenario at 27th Dae Jong Award, Best New-face Director at 25th Baek Sang Art Award, and Best Actor Park Joong-hoon at 9th Film Critics Award.
