About This Book
This book is a collection of dancer and author, Choi Seung Hee’s, works. It includes 9 original essays as well as letters written to and received from her brother, Choi Seung Il. Topics covered include relationships within her dysfunctional family and the obstacles she had to overcome in order to become the world renown dancer she is today. Her passion to create innovative choreography leading her to receive many praises are well documented in this edition.
The book is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on her childhood. Major events include her initial relocation from Korea to Japan and her eventual apprenticeship under Suk Jung Mak.
The second part focuses on the feedback Choi received from her colleagues and the media. The judgement they passed on her potential as well as predictions of her future dance career are all well recorded.
