About This Book
It contains 26 cuts of Korean folk paintings depicting summer-time materials such as flowers, insects, watermelons, peaches, and pomegranates. Without any unfamiliar and complex traditional painting tools, the color pencils alone brought back the comfortable and colorful colors inherent in folk paintings. Anyone can complete a great folk painting with a single colored pencil by simply learning the basics through a mini lesson presented in Part 1.
Minhwa's subjects include everyday wishes such as longevity, wealth, and family happiness. In "Hwajapdo," which depicts flowers and butterflies, the desire for joy, happiness and love between couples is contained, while in "Chopchungdo," which combines insects and nature, contains a desire to love nature and follow its providence.
