About This DVD
Mazinger is a long running series of manga and anime featuring giant robots or
mecha.
Mazinger Z (Tranzor Z in the U.S.)
(1972) The first Mazinger and probably the most easily recognizable, a landmark
character in the history of Japanese mecha robots. The story revolves around the
antagonism between Kouji Kabuto piloting his robot Mazinger Z and Dr. Hell using
Mechanical Beasts.
Plot Summary: From the island of Bardos in the Aegean Sea comes a new threat
to humanity in the form of Doctor Hell and his army of mechanical beasts.
However, a new hero stands in his way: Mazinger Z, a giant robot built out of
the indestructible metal chogokin and equipped with an arsenal of advanced
weaponry. Piloting Mazinger Z is hotheaded teenager Kouji Kabuto, who strives to
avenge the death of his grandfather and protect Japan from Doctor Hell's forces.
Great Mazinger
(1974) Directly following the plot of the previous series, Great
Mazinger was a more powerful version of its predecessor. Tetsuya Tsurugi pilots
the robot against the Mikene Empire and the Warrior Beasts, ruled by the The
Emperor of Darkness and led by the Great General of Darkness and the Seven
Generals of Mikene.
