About This Book

French Egyptologist Christian Jacq has created a compelling series, mixing archaeological fact with wild speculation about the life of Ramses, the pharaoh's good friend Moses, Menelaus returning home from the Trojan War and his wife Helen. The series begins with the testing of the young Ramses to make sure he will make a better king than his older luxury-loving brother.

1) Ramses: The Son of Light Vol. I
The first volume of this series introduces the lead character, Ramses, as a young man whom his father tests secretly to determine whether he would make a suitable successor. A suspense-filled story about coming of age in ancient times.

2) Ramses: The Eternal temple Vol. II
The engrossing saga continues with Ramses, the new king of Egypt, trying to secure the throne he has inherited, but his elder brother still wants. Also called "The Temple of a Million Years."

3) Ramses: The Battle of Kadesh Vol. III
Ramses faces the Hittites in battle while black magic attacks his beloved Nefertari.

4) Ramses: The Lady of Abu Simbel Vol. IV
Among other troubles, Ramses' boyhood friend Moses has returned from exile and demands the release of the Hebrews. Ramses goes to Abu Simbel to build a temple to bring him divine help.

5) Ramses: Under the Western Acacia Vol. V
Ramses must choose which son will succeed him while the Hittites continue to create conflicts for the Egyptian pharaoh.
