About This DVD
This is a story exploring the moral of a trader and the value of the wealth. The
popular writer Choi In Ho tells a story about the legendary Korean merchant in
Joseon Dynasty, Im Sang-ok (1779-1855).
This drama is from the makers of 'Huh Joon', a drama that took place long time
ago starring Jun Gwang Yuhl. Whereas 'Huh Joon' centered on the medical-herbal
world, 'Sang Do' centers on the merchant's world. Lee Jae Rong is a young man
that aspires to be a translator of Korean-Chinese. He is of poor origins, and
his dad strictly teaches him Chinese so that he can become a translator, and
climb up the social ladder.
Kim Hyun Joo is Lee Sun Jae's daughter, and is the leader of a merchant's
circle, odd for a female at the time. Kim Hyun Joo asks Lee Jae Rong to work
with her, but he refuses constantly, but things change and his aspiration
changes when Kim Hyun Joo's dad betrays him and his father. Lee Jae Rong's
father is killed. On the other hand, though, Lee Jae Rong-Kim Hyun Joo-Kim Yoo
Mi become lovers as this drama continues. Kim Hyun Joo and Lee Jae Rong become
somewhat 'forbidden' lovers.
