About This Book

First published in 2011, this updated version is back on the market due to popular demand. In the opening chapter, Rhyu states, “If you read the first edition, I will make it clear that you do not have to read the revised edition” (8). However, the old and new editions are not duplicates of each other. More than a decade has passed since the first publication and a lot has changed during that time; the author’s personality, South Korea’s politics, and even the citizens’ viewpoints have changed. In the first three chapters, he discusses three different ways of viewing the country. He also describes the ideal characteristics of a country’s leader (chapter 4), the proper ways to love one’s country (chapter 5), different methods of transforming a country (chapter 6), the meaning of genuinely progressive politics (chapter 7), what ideal values the state should hold (chapter 8), and the ethical views a politician ought to hold (Chapter 9). We hope this book reaches the hands of those who long for a better country.
